Fusion IT, LLC – a veteran-owned managed service IT provider (MSP) — has been recognized for its commitment to veterans with a Platinum 2018 HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Award. Of the 11 Michigan companies to receive awards, Fusion IT was one of only three to receive Platinum status – the program’s highest honor.
Established by President Trump in 2017 and administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, the purpose of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award is to recognize employers who recruit, hire and retain veterans, including their efforts to establish employee development programs and veteran-specific benefits.
“It is an honor and privilege to employ our nation’s veterans, considering everything they have sacrificed for this country,” said Michael Waldschlager, Mentor, President & CEO. “It is not only the right thing to do, but it makes sense for our business. Veterans bring specific skill sets in terms of leadership and team commitment that not only strengthens our company, but also allows us to provide added value to our clients.”
Veterans comprising at least 10 percent of an employer’s new hires or 85 percent of the retained workforce are just two of the various criteria required for the award. A company must also show it seeks out veterans and offers development programs specifically for those it employs. Fusion IT partners with the Michigan Works! veteran recruiter and provides mentorship, professional development and leadership training for employees.
“Fusion IT recognizes that our employees are a key to our success,” Waldschlager added. “Through our three-part leadership development program we engage with our team to develop the advanced knowledge, confidence and leadership skills needed in today’s IT marketplace.”
